Summer Travels
This summer has been a hot one in Arizona, which means more watering for the plantys. I wake up every morning and check on the plants and before I go to bed I check on them again. I really haven’t taken a trip since I started my collection. I knew when that day came, it would be a stressful one.
Well, that time came, and it is exactly what I expected it to be. Constant worry. Even though I had friends checking on our cat, who could also check on my plants, I was still a hot mess thinking about them when we left for 4 days to go to Denver. When we arrived back home, all but a couple plants were still thriving. One of the plants that was unalive, I got to come back with a heavy watering/plant food, thank goodness. All this stress and knowing I was going to be turning around in a week to leave again but this time for 6 nights.
Full panic set in the night before we left because I still had yet to pack and I didn’t feel like I had enough time to make sure everyone was okay the morning of. I had my friends keep an eye on everything, but you know the stress of plant Mom life, no one knows your plants like you do, We are on our last night in Flagstaff now and all I can think about is time is ticking to get back to my bebes. This problem is definitely something that a lot of plant people don’t talk about. You don’t leave your pets home alone when you go on vacation because they need food and water and of course the company. Who knew plants need the same care as a living being. Making it so difficult to travel! I worry about coming home tomorrow and having to say goodbye to ANY of my plants. But, in the mean time, I bought 6 more plants to bring home. WHAT AM I THINKING?
We have a few more trips this summer and I am on the hunt for a plant sitter because I don’t think I can take the stress of leaving 50+ plants again. If you are going to be a crazy plant lady like myself, just know going into it that vacations are going to be a little more tricky from here on out.
